Frequently Asked Questions about the Aqara U100
Do I absolutely need an Aqara Hub?
Not for the basics. You can use fingerprint, code, and Apple HomeKey (locally) without any Hub. But if you want to receive notifications when you're not home or open the door remotely for a guest, you do need an Aqara Hub or an Apple Home Hub (HomePod/AppleTV).
Is it difficult to install?
It's pretty standard. It replaces your current deadbolt. You only need a screwdriver. If your door already has a standard deadbolt, installation takes about 15-20 minutes.
What happens if the battery runs out?
The lock will warn you well in advance (at 20%). If it runs out completely, you have two options: use the included physical mechanical key or connect a portable battery (power bank) USB-C to the bottom port to power it on and enter your code.
