Does it work with iPhone or Xiaomi/Motorola phones?
Not for tracking. The SmartTag2 requires the SmartThings app installed on a Samsung Galaxy device to set up and locate. However, if you lose it, an iPhone user can scan it via NFC to see who it belongs to.
What type of battery does it use?
It uses a standard CR2032 coin cell battery, which is easy to find and inexpensive. It includes a 'pin-type' tool to easily open the battery tray.
Can I use it to track people or children?
It is not designed for that. Samsung includes anti-harassment features: if an unknown SmartTag moves with you for a period of time, your Galaxy phone will alert you to prevent unwanted tracking.
